Boyd F. Young O.D.
Dr. Boyd Young was raised in Southeast Idaho in the town of Rexburg. He graduated with an Associate Degree from Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho), located in Rexburg, and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He received his Bachelors Degree and Doctor of Optometry Degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California, graduating in 1990. In addition to the college clinic, Dr. Young received training at March Air Force Base in San Bernadino, Phoenix Indian Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Allergan Pharmaceutical Research Clinic in Irvine, California.
While in Optometry School, Dr. Young received "The Contact Lens Achievement Award" as the top contact lens clinician of his graduating class. In 1996, Dr. Young was honored by Tehachapi Hospital as the Medical Professional of the Year, and in 1999 was honored by the Tehachapi School District for efforts to pass a bond to build the new Tehachapi High School.
Dr. Young is a member of the American and California Optometric Associations and is a past president of the Kern County Optometric Society.
He and his wife, Karinne, have lived in Tehachapi since 1990, and loved raising their five children here.
